Court-Appointed Counsel Registry

Section 27.40, Florida Statutes, requires the chief judge of the judicial circuit to compile a list of attorneys in private practice, by category of cases, who are available for appointment when the Public Defender’s Office and the Office of Criminal Conflict and Civil Regional Counsel are unable to provide representation due to a conflict of interest. This list consists of attorneys in private practice.

In accordance with Administrative Order S-2020-024, the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit has adopted a biennial application process which will be conducted in odd-numbered years.  Therefore, there will be no application period in 2020 for the Court-Appointed Counsel Registry, and the FY2019-2020 Registry will remain in effect through June 30, 2021.  Please check our website in April 2021 for application information for the biennial application for fiscal years July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2022 and July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023.

Please note that for purposes of court appointments, the clerk’s office has been directed to utilize a randomized court-appointed counsel registry list rather than the alphabetical list posted here in an effort to facilitate an equitable distribution of appointments across all court-appointed registry categories.
